Ham and Legs Show #031
We spoke briefly about Soupy Sales, he was a very funny, sweet man and shall be missed. Then it was on to the fun stuff, how rape victims are routinely denied health care services directly linked to their assaults...yep, you read right. How not only was a baby deemed too fat to get health coverage in Colorado, so was a too thin toddler, what is UP with Colorado?
We had an in studio guest, our favorite civil disobedier...(is that a word?),
Laura Flanagan talk about an upcoming 20-30 city protest on October 28, 2009 about health insurance reform.

Good Show!
Next show how about more regarding money and the "Public Option". How is it paid for. That's where I need help when discussing this at the coffeeshop (if there were one here in the boonies)

Well, thank you, Lancer! As far as the $$ question and public options. Until the final bill is written and the CBO comes out with its numbers on the version that will be in the final bill, it is hard to quantify something that is still up in the air. If you have time, look up the CBO's estimates for all 5 bills so far, the one that saves the most money, I think is either the Kucinich amendment in the House or Sen. Wyden's in the Senate. But, I'm not sure. What I do know is the one that saves the least amount of money over 10 years is the Baucus bill, since it does NOT include a public option.
The idea of the final bill disallowing the anti-trust protection will help due to the fact that the industry pretty much colludes and price fixes when it comes to premiums. Busting the anti trust protection will force better competition, even without the public option, or so I am to believe. The public option will offer services similar to private industry at a lower rate, due to no profit incentives, and lower overhead. Plus, just having a larger pool of people to insure, will bring down the premium costs, since more people paying premiums spreads the risk and how much each policy should cost. Anyway, until the final bill is ready, it's difficult to accurately show how money will be saved. The public option will be best for small businesses and individuals who are not covered by their employers. Like Ham!
Hope this helped a little. We love hearing from you. Say hi to the family!

Off topic, but...
For those of you who still value journalistic principles and therefore oppose FoxNews, it's very important to get the criticism right and to point out the obvious.
FoxNews is NOT being criticized for being critical, they're being criticized for being liars.
FoxNews has eagerly, regularly, and apparently, knowingly spreads lies. These are easy to list for anyone who cares to look on PolitiFact, TruthDig, FactCheck, The Huffington Post, or The Daily Kos. Critical news is good but unprincipled, dishonest news is bad. FoxNews is dishonest and they obviously do not care.
Once again for the viewers at home:
FoxNews is not being criticized for being critical, they're being criticized for being liars.

Ham couldn't agree more.

You really couldn't make this anymore clear and for those who still don't get it, it is obvious that you are blinded by ignorance and refuse to see reality or lack the common sense to have an open mind. Well put Sean, I couldn't agree more, Kenny

You said boobies at the end of the show, so tell us what she's got hanging off of there!!! I love when Sean catches these jackasses like Anderson Cooper contradciting themselves. Too bad those people can't be there for a debate or to at least answer when they get called out, that would be becutiful...like me!!! Tell me how much you love me Jody, I've grown on your cousin Jennifer, she loves me more than words can say, as it should be. Now if you just jump onboard there will be three, Sean (who couldn't love me anymore than he already does no matter what he says), Jennifer and you. C'mon Jody, get with the program...Enjoyed the show and Laura picked her spots nicely. It's always questionable when shows have guests but this one worked out nicely. On a side note Sean, your girlscout Seahawks go into big D this weekend for their annual ass kicking, are you going to watch the jackhammering or should I just tell you the bad news after it's over?

Kenny, you know how much Ham adores you.

Kenny: I've delegated my spots-minded energies toward the Oregon Ducks & anything UEFA Soccer. I tossed the Seahawks aside when they went neon & when Mora threw one of his own players under the buss. I don't like place-kickers either, but I'd NEVER call him out outside of the locker room. Mora is no coach. So, yeah give me a shout if Seattle comes within 28.
