Ham and Legs Show #028

Well, so the show started off with talk about Representative Grayson's speech and subsequent apology to the Dead in the House this week, moved onto other Health Care talk, onto Polanski, and boy is Ham more pissed at the LA D.A.'s office  than almost anything else.  She barely shut up about it.  And Kenny, she's expecting you to take umbrage to her thoughts....then it was onto spanking one's children and finally President Obama and how no matter what he does, he's not doing it right according to the Republicans and Conservative talk show people.  So, there you have it!  Enjoy.

Nope, unless you count your comment.  So far, no one has mentioned it.

    Here's an equation:
Human being + raping my daughter = Hillbilly Justice

I'll take care of it myself. There's a great scene in the first 007 movie with Mr. Craig that would work as a warm up.

Don't care how good he was at his job. Don't care how much time has passed.
He should not get away with this horrendous crime because the victim want's to mentally block out this horrible event (of course she does).

thug fighting/killing dogs = 13 year old human being being drugged and raped???? REALLY???! I don't know...I think you need to pop a baby out of your vag, raise it for 13 years, have her raped, then see if you have the same opinion.

You could be very correct.  Part of the problem with our laws and justice system is that victims - if left alive - can recant their testimony, which is why domestic violence crimes are tough to prosecute along with some rape cases.

In this instance, the woman he raped, will, most likely, not testify, should there be a new trial.  And therefore, he may not be convicted of his original crime.  If, the victim is no longer seeking justice, or what those not involved consider justice...perhaps it is better for her that it is dropped.

Mr. Polanski is a scumbag for what he did and a coward for running...but, as I stated  over and over again, why did it take until now to have him arrested when he was not hiding at all?  He never changed his name and he never went to countries that we don't have treaties with.  Why?  He should and could have been apprehended decades ago.  He'd have served his time already and I'd be the one upset about his celebrity status, which I am.  I did like the Pianist....I also think Vick is a great football player...doesn't excuse what either man did.

      Ham

Here are links to some articles about Samantha Geimer...apparently, in 1977, her name was not shielded from the press, which is just horrible.  Not only was she a rape victim, but she was a minor.  The press had no right to know her name.  Here are two quotes that stick with me:

In the end, she was relieved when Polanski fled because reporters stopped calling."He did something really gross to me, but it was the media that ruined my life," she told People in 1997.

      Daily News Article

And below here is an article from Salon.com that is fantastic, it points out the brutality of his crime in greater detail than I ever knew, but, I still have to side with the victim here.   In the article below the writer argues that our judicial system is to benefit justice, not victims.  And, I would probably agree in many instances.

But, Mr. Polanski plead to one count of sex with a minor...now, is that justice?  Victims rights advocates would argue no.  So, are we to only fight for victim's rights when it comes to prosecuting?
